THE VIEW OF LIFE AS A SCRABBLE
The greatest gift given to man is the opportunity of existence. It is therefore not what you are born with that matters, but what you make out of life. The view of life as a scrabble game provides principles and lessons which can help to make the most out of life. Beginning from the name of the game ‘scrabble’ means to grope with ones fingers to find and collect something. In life, we all work to reach our goal whether it is as simple as getting our daily bread or as huge as making a life time impact. To win the game of scrabble, you must be in it. Being in it requires effort, critical thinking, questioning some wrong moves, missing opportunity of play to secure a better play and making good use of opportunities.
In the game, the player is not given an option to choose the best of tiles to make a perfect play. He picks at random seven tiles and he is expected to make a perfect play. Every human is brought into life with combinations of tiles which could be talents, abilities and strengths. The purpose of the game is to use the tiles and opportunity of play to form a productive word by building upon that which has already been laid down.
Each tile is a potential tile whether it carries a high value or low. The most important thing is to make a perfect combination with it and positioning it in a place where it could make a very great impact. Sometimes you risk losing your turn to play by contesting a wrong play by an opponent. This is facing your fear if you are able to prove him wrong he loses his turn and you take it. Too many times in life mediocrity takes the lead instead of fighting to change the status quo, this amounts to getting poor results out of life. Whenever you play the scrabble game, see how you can apply it to your life.
